Writing goals

Agreed. Every time I try to outline and plot, it sucks the life out of what I'm writing. However, it's kind of helpful if I limit it to a chapter? I think? Maybe? ** squints really hard **

I do the inverse of this and have the computer dictate my chapters to check for grammar/typos. Much easier than searching for them manually. The worst part is trying to find a voice that doesn't sound like the self checkout at a grocery store.
Imagine a self-checkout that reads a story while you scan items.

"As Martenelo finished off his can of Lemony-Limeish, he rolled down the hill, straight into a big bowl of cream of... Please take your receipt. Thank your for shopping at Tuna King".

I'd want to shop there, just, I'd probably stay too long in the checkout. 😅

Like Grammarly? I use Grammarly in all my writing. Currently, I don't have Pro, though. (Can't afford it at this time.)
I tried Grammarly at one point, but I've been writing in Scrivener. It doesn't seem to want to use the Mac OS voice I choose, just this super robotic one that makes everything I write sound as drab as possible.

That's the one! 🤣

My problem is my characters just do their own thing
And they’re really good at it

I tried to outline and plan a chapter and there was this one character who was MEANT to be a senior warrior who had since retired to training the young adolescent lads

But he did his thing and now he’s still in active duty? the third highest in their military structure and he was apparently a good friend to another main characters dead dad? And he’s the one that killed the dad? And now he’s going secretly AWoL?

I stopped outlining after that

I never outline anything I write. I usually read it once and if it didn't come out right either I start over or shift things to make it make sense. If I'm really tired and I write something, I usually discard it because it came out wrong.

I've never heard of Scrivener before, but that looks pretty cool. That's too bad it's not quite working for you though.
