Yes, and if every one of your characters is named x, then if you try to replace one character's x with a name, then all the other characters will be named that too... it's like having a bunch of clones called John Doe walking around and interacting with each other and all of that

I seriously have a Spreadsheet of Everything with a page for exactly this purpose

I record whatever shorthand I used (such as NAME1), then a brief description of who/what needs the name, and where it's from. Then it's a simple matter of find/replace when I figure it out. Usually, for me, it's places rather than characters that are in need, though

I got a little over 300 words done tonight which is good for a Thursday.
Small length but some killer dialogue so I’m happy.

I don't feel I've been super active on this thread lately, so I've come to share a writing tip for those who already don't know about this. I've made mention of it on here already I think, but if you're a writer that struggles with the actual act of sitting down and writing (like me ) I recommend trying a little phone app called "Focus Friend". It's a very cute focusing timer app that gives you a little pet bean with like severe ADHD When you "help" your bean focus you gain "socks" which let you buy house accessories for your bean.
Honestly I recommend any kind of focus app though. I know my laptop has a built in one, it just lacks the "fun" of the bean

I haven't written a single thing this week. I was going to write something for the prompt thread today, but I got sidetracked by some story I started last night (freestyle- in my mind, not on paper).

On my short story, I had planned on taking this week and next week off due to some other work I was doing, so I've got some slack. Then I got that work done in two days instead of two weeks, so I might go back to working on my story next week.
