Writing goals

Noo.... Don't give up just because you're busy! Find time! Like I like to mention a lot, even if it's at 3am. Write! If you abandon it now, it might never be picked up again. (And yes, there is a thing called "the busy writers.") Write even if you are busy. Work your imagination even if it's the few minutes in the bathroom. (I'd add the commute to work, but a high action scene might put the foot a little too close to the floor, or a sad, slow scene might get an angry line of traffic behind you... Obviously not all of this is writing time, though writing time is highly important.)

Instead of trying to take on too much or just not doing anything
Maybe making the goal smaller
Like as manageable as possible

If you’re building a universe (which is super fun) really make it your goal to develop it

I'm not abandoning it completely... it's still in my noggin (if the aforementioned decides to be functional ) but I really need to work on some music that's been playing around in my head and get that on to paper. And also I have deadlines approaching for school. So yeah.I'm still developing the universe in my head too. A new antagonist made his grand entrance earlier this year and I'm still trying to flesh him out...

If you get stuck in a mental ditch,
Don’t be afraid to put it in the blender and reuse the blended mess as your foundation.

I did that with my paracosm many months ago after it wouldnt move forward and now it’s thriving. Never been more succulent.

Having life get in the way is sooo annoying
As i was thinking about the new year before I actually realized this has been a good reason I've been able to get myself back into writing. 2026's going to be my first year with zero study expectations in a very long time.
Once you have space free up I'd say take advantage of it to write, it's so easy to procrastinate starting it...
