Hello Backyard Chickens community, I am new here and was hoping to get some help or advise. I have a silkie hatchling that developed wry neck at just a couple days old. I just gave birth to a baby of my own and live quite a ways from town so the only thing I have on hand that is close to poly vi sol is sheep nutri drench. I have been giving him/her about a drop of this once a day for the last 3 days. I saw a huge improvement this morning, it's head was being held up and straight with only a slight crook remaining. So I intend to keep using this unless there is a reason I shouldn't. I was wondering if anyone has used this for wry neck? or if there is any reason that it would not be ok?

It nutritionally contains; Calcium, Selenium, Vit. A, Vit. D, Vit. E

ingredients are: propylene glycol, molasses products, calcium carbonate, choline chloride, DL-methionine, l-lysine, Vitamin E supplement, Vitamin A supplement, Vitamin D-3 supplement, Thiamine, Niacin, Zinc sulfate, ehtylenediamine dihydroiodide, magnesium sulfate, iron sulfate, sodium selenite, cobalt sulfate, sugar.

Basically I am wondering if anything in it would potentially cause more problems as I am pretty new to poultry nutrition?

Not much help, but I will say that I also had a case of wry neck (very scary thing to see!) and those same vitamins fixed her up in 2 days. She's been fine ever since. I kept up with the vits for maybe a week.

Thank for the reply, I was thinking that the vitamins were the same, or similar to what was being used by others. It is just terrible to see them in such a position. I am glad to hear that yours had such a good recovery. I will continue through the week then and just hope for the best :)
