Wry neck? Any last ideas?

Ill keep it at 25mg a day then.
She wont eat egg at all.

No vets around here have any idea about chickens but I may have found one that knows about the Prednisone so will be calling tomorrow to see if can get some.

Poor girl died today.
Tried injection for swelling on brain but made no difference. Died in my arms
As an added bonus her little daughter in the photo dropped dead 2 hours earlier. No idea why.
Great day

I'm so very sorry for your loss:hugs

Are you in the U.S.?
Since you just had both die, you may want to consider send them to your state lab for testing and necropsy. This will give you information as to whether the cause is a disease or if there is something you can prevent from happening again.

Not in US.
We have nothing over here. Not even any vets that have any idea about chickens.

They didnt die from same thing thats for certain. No idea what the young one died from

Sorry for your loss. There are poultry labs or vets that can do necropsies in Australia and New Zealand ( I am not sure really where you are located,) but other BYCers have had testing for Mareks there. Sometimes people can open up the abdomen to look at organs and take pictures, then post back here on threads to look for a cause of death. Mareks will cause tumors on various organs which may look like spots on intestines, liver, and other organs. It can help to know whether or not it is in your flock. Of course, I understand if that is not possible, but just a suggestion.

Even if have mareks it seems as though there is nothing you can do from what i read about it . Am not really sure it was that as she seemed to take too long to die from it and others have not shown any symptoms all this time. But who knows. I can just hope its not.

I was never able to cure my wry neck hen but I made her a house chicken. I hand fed and hand watered her for 6 months until one day she just showed me she could do it herself. Then one day while outside, she walked under my golf cart and I didn't see her... OMG I don't think I ever cried and screamed so hard. I loved that hen... :( Her name was Chicken Little (cause the sky was falling) :(
