I have a Polish pullet (about 4 months old) 3 weeks ago I found her with really bad wry neck. Head curled like a cinnamon roll. I brought her inside because it's 100+ degrees outside and wanted to monitor her better. Started giving 3 pea sized Selenium/Vitamin E paste and 1/2 of a vitamin b complex capsule. Within about 48 hours she was pretty much back to normal. I lowered the selenium vitamin e paste to 2 times a day but also gave her scrambled eggs daily.

Thursday made 2 weeks of her being inside and we left for a weekend trip (2 days of no vitamins) and she's back to how she was when we first found her.

I understand it can take months to recover fully but I had planned on putting her back outside yesterday and just putting vitamins in the water.

I'm just wondering if I should be doing something differently but also I'm scared to integrate her with the flock again. They are major bullies, I had one with a swollen eye that I had removed for only a week and it was awful when I put her back with the others. I'm wondering at this rate how I'll ever be able to put her back. She's also a cross beak so she already has issues eating

Any help or advice appreciated.

Are the rest of your flock Polish or just her? I ask because if it's just her, then there's another issue as she's different. It could be worse for her going back to the flock but if you have a coop or run with clutter in it, like pallets leaning against the walls, boxes, overturned old chairs, etc., then she could get safe if picked on, but that's no way to live either.

For future treating her, just give her one of your Vitamin E pills, 400 iu or so, whole. Then give a little scrambled eggs for the selenium. That goat paste actually has too much selenium in it for chickens and it can become toxic. The 1/2 vit B complex is good to continue too. It can take months for them to recover from wry neck, but from what I've seen it was a few weeks.

I hope she recovers enough that you can try put her out. Ever thought of having a house chicken in case that doesn't work?

It's just her that's polish. I did have another vaulted skull (sold as maran but looked like olive egger) and she had wry neck a few weeks ago but it was so bad I couldn't even syringe feed her without risk of aspirating her and ended up having to have a vet euthanize because I couldn't let her keep suffering. The others are all fine though, there's 4 others not including her and they are good.

And I have, I have no problem with a house chicken it's my husband who is not convinced lol

I've been giving eggs and vitamin e and b... and we are almost a week home now and she was doing slightly better the past few days, but as of today she is laying flat, labored breathing, head twitching but eyes open. She falls in and out of sleep but when I talk to her her eyes open.

The only other thing floating my head is mareks? But idk how to tell the difference or if being that she had recovered well a few weeks ago that it rules out mareks. I did see a little green poop here and there but not constant and also not sure if it's just because of her not eating a ton and only eating eggs.

Any advice anyone?
