Hi all,
I have a pullet who is around the 10 month mark now. Just today she started backing up, lowering her head and turning it from side to side. I know it may be a symptom of Mareks or a nutririant deficiency. She dosen't seem to have a injury. As she is a Araucana X, she has a crest. I will give her some vitamin water and scrambled eggs as soon as I can. She is still eating and drinking well. Is there anything else I should know?

Thank you

Give her vitamin E 400iu. This may clear it up in hours, if not, a few days.
How do you give the vitamin e? I’ve got a 3 mo old that has wry neck. Noticed she was bein weird yesterday with her head - this morning she couldn’t get balanced enough to walk and her head was twisted bad. I tried to use a syringe and slowly drop nutridrench into her beak but she isn’t used to being handled. Is this the right way? How long would I need to do this?

I'm dealing with a chronic wry neck patient currently. It's sometimes a challenge to get the vitamin E into her because of the twisted neck. I need to hold her and coax her neck to straighten out so I can access her beak.

While Poultry Nutri-drench is a terrific supplement for health compromised chicks and chickens, it doesn't have enough vitamin E in it to adequately treat wry neck. The easiest way to get a vitamin E capsule into a chicken is to pry open the beak and shove it in. As the beak closes, the pill automatically slides into the crop.
