I recently purchased (may 16th) a three-month-old splash Cochin from a friend. Her head was tilted a little but it would come and go. Other than that she seemed perfectly normal. None of the other chickens picked on her at all so all was well. I took her and two other girls she was raised with home that Saturday (all the while keeping them separate from the rest of my girls) and by Monday she was tilting her head all the time... I removed her from everyone else and put her in a dark cage to rest. I had started feeding her poly visol and vitamin e and a tiny bit of selenium mixed with the polyvisol twice a day but it continues to get worse and worse. Thursday it got so bad that I stayed up from 3am until 7am holding her cause she kept back flipping back and holding her head completely upside down.
That morning I took her to the vet and they said it could be a lot of things but to continue feeding vitamins and prescribed me and antibiotic and a small NSAID (pain reliever) twice a day. I continued doing as I was told. I have her wrapped in towels to keep her from getting all crooked. Today I woke up to find that she was bleeding from her neck. She tried to get herself out of that awful position and in doing so she kicked her jaw/neck to the point she was bleeding.
I don't know what to do. It has been 11 days and she seems to be getting worse. I was feeding her ever 2-4 hours water and watermelon and scrambled eggs and her normal food. Today she doesn't want to eat really.
Help what should I do?
Also doesn't help that the two other girls have worms and even though I kept them separate from my other 4 girls, my other girls might be infected too. This is terrible. I feel totally helpless. What should I do?
