Wry Neck

My chick gets her head wet when drinking so I offer her water throughout the day and when she drinks she twists her head and comes back for more. She can eat and drink on her own. Does her poo change color when the vitamins and all are given to show her body is absorbing it all? Here is a picture of her holding her head up.

You should put marbles in the waterer so she cant dip her head to far.Try massaging the neck often and moving it to the right place.

Flan is looking good, so is my chick. She seems to take her head round and round when she is scared or surprised. She is eating really well and drinking. Getting better and better each day. When she goes in the chicken coop I am sure she will be scared because my guineas are really loud but there is 8 bearded white silkies in the coop also. Out of the 8, 5 of them are her brothers and sisters so they are the same size. I have an area where the silkies gather and sleep with a partial fence up so the guineas can't just walk up on them. My coop is a 10 X 16 feet and is about 10 feet high with roosting (4X8) and the guineas love to stay there. When I opened the door in the morning, the silkies run for the outside and when the sun is shinning they back inside to lay in the warm sun. I am in NC and the weather doesn't stay the same, warm a day or to and cold at night. Goes from up to 70 during the day and can drop to 23 at night. Have a great day and good luck with Flan. Pictures of my coop. This is before my temporary fence was put up. I am sure the vets was expensive to get Flan well.

I know you wanted an up date! My chick named her Tiny no longer ducks her head. She is normal with the exception when I put her with her brother and sisters she was the smallest one. I was surprised. I had given her boiled egg with vitamin E drops and sunflower chips for over 2 weeks. The swelling is gone and she is a normal chick now but very small. She is so happy to be with the others. She follows Boss, my main rooster all over the pen. It is so cute. She never wants to go into the barn in the evening. I have to pick her up and put her in the barn but she tries to run from me. I hope it doesn't come back. She was the only one with wry neck out of 6.

I got all the info on how to treat wry neck from this website. I just wanted to say thank this website for being here. It helped me make Tiny all better and happy and all the people that sent me links to read on Wry Neck. Thank you all!!!

That is great news. She might go in the barn on her own in the evening if you cage her in there for a few days to a week. Of course, you may not want to keep her put up right now that she is enjoying herself so much. Good luck, she's a cutie.
