I haven’t been able to get her to drink on her own. But that doesn’t mean the doesn’t. She moves around the crate several times a day and she might get some water then.
How much water should I be giving her a day? I have her about 12 ml yesterday and you could feel the water in her crop. Is that enough?

@casportpony knows much more about how much fluids a bird needs each day, but I think you need to get at least 5% of total body weight.

I think ideally you would tube/syringe fluids every 2-4hrs if she is not dehydrated. You want to do fluids first then food. So if you can get a little water into her and she is willing to eat a wet slurry of feed that would be a good way to get her more fluids into her.

Ok thank you. I gave her about 4 ml of water and I managed to get one peice of scrambled egg into her. I have some fermented feed, wet feed, dry feed, and scrambled egg available to them today in case any of that is appealing to her.

She needs a minimum of 23 ml per pound per day.

I put some of the fermented feed in a syringe and fed it to her just like I would the water. I dripped it onto her beak and she would drink it off from there. Most of it stoped off her beak-so I’m unsure how much I got into her, but I know I got some. I also gave her quite a bit more water.

Very Good! I hope with a little more time and getting fluids/nutrition into her you will start to see some improvement.

Just as an update, I gave her about 9ml more. I started by giving her 3ml, which she took very well. Then I gave her 3 more with food mixed in, and lastly 3ml with mostly water. By the end she was getting bored of it so I decided to give her a bit of time to rest. I really hope she gets though this. I have school tomorrow, so I’m afraid she won’t get enough to drink. I’ll wake up early and give her some extra though.

So this has happened the past 2 nights and I’m not sure what it is...
When I’m giving her water, I hold her on my leg and drip it onto her beak. Only, sometimes, she will move one or both of her legs like she is trying to scratch her face. Then she will make a small croaking sound and pant for a few minutes. Then she seems back to “normal”(normal for her being sick). Does she choke on the water? Am I giving her too much too fast? Thanks for the help.

When one of my hens was critically ill last year, my vet told me to make sure she got 100 ml of fluid every 24 hours. When I have to give water/fluid through an eyedropper, I try to get the liquid to go towards the her right side of her mouth b/c the windpipe is on her left, that could cause her to aspirate fluid if it goes down the left side. If I am holding her head, I tilt it so that the left side is up, and the water will drain down into the right side, where she can swallow it. Also I would gently rub her throat to encourage her to swallow. Good luck, it's not easy, but worth the effort.
