Hi Noriko, Thanks, Yes, I did lose the Lavender and split hatch. I was heartbroken. My daughter had some Japanese and Cochin banties in there too and was really disappointed too. The bator was perfect until that day.
Harry gave me some good advice. Split important eggs into either two bators or one half under a broody. I will do that next time. I will keep trying! I did get your PM and will PM you later when I get back from grocery shopping. My daughter loves purple too! She wishes chickens could come in that color lol...

Birdgirl, That is a pretty hen there. I am not sure by the picture exactly what color she is.
I posted a picture of my daughter's lavender project Roo so you can see the color I am looking for. She is using him for an EE project. I have a few chicks from him I kept. I may do something with them.

well, it definitely is not an araucana because it has muffs/beard and not tufts like an araucana does. It is not an Ameraucana because it is not a recognized color, although I wonder what they used to get that pretty color.....

I've had it happen before, too. I haven't posted any pics yet, I should do that! I ended up with only one visual lavender, but I've got a whole mess of splits!

Too bad you aren't a little closer, I'll be sure to have extra black splits at some point. I'm in the very southern part of MD though, so I imagine you are a bit too far for a chicken road trip.

There is definitely a way to know if you have an EE, Ameraucana, or Araucana.

That is a pretty colored bird in that pic. You might like the lavenders, too!

Michele; That's actually what I do too. I put some eggs under my broody silkies & put some in my bator. My silkies can hatch most of everything underneath her.(almost 100%) But, my PQ silkies can do their job much better than my BQ/SQ silkie.... my blue girl doesn't go broody at all lol I don't really know why, though. My some PQ hens are still taking care of their chicks & I'm taking care of my chicks I hatched! Just let me know if you need a hen or two go to broody a lot, they are PQ, but they do their best for you.

I have some split lav roosters that will be ready to find new homes soon. They hatched Good Friday (April 10th) and are lookiing really nice. Unfortunatly I have way too many of them. They are from Harry Shaffer. Unfortunaly, out of the 8 chicks I kept from that hatch (4 lav and 4 spli lav) 6 of them are looking like roo's

I have 3 split lav araucana and at least 2 are cockerals, hope the third is a pullet to help this project
