Anybody know where I can buy Mandarin ducks or hatching eggs? I've checked a dozen hatcheries and nobody seems to carry them. It looks like McMurray sells grown birds, but they're out of stock.
It is not there season right now but try www.eggbid.com they might have some pre-sales and in the spring they will have lots of eggs, ducklings, and full grown birds.
I saw a couple of egg pre-sales on eBay too. Is $45 for six eggs about average?
My preference, though, is to find a hatchery that actually sells hatchlings... during the season, of course. So far I've only been able to locate standard breeds.
I dont have any eggs for sale, but I do have some mandarins. They didnt lay last year, their first year, so hopefully they lay this year. But I was wondering, how hard are they to hatch in the incubator?
I have hatched their eggs before and they are the hardest eggs to hatch. If u have ever tried to hatch a call duck, a mandrain egg is way harder. It is possible but hard. If u have the choice I would do natural incubation.
Another thing is once they hatch it is a whole nother challenge.
