I'm going to be in the market for some White Rock eggs in the not too distant future. I already have 5 in my flock and I want to add some genetic diversity to it as these 5 came from the same good ole boy. They're fine chickens but I'd prefer to not have them too inbred.
What I am hoping to do is get a hatch to coincide with TSCs Chick Days as I plan on adding some more of their SexLink pullets to the 8 that I got from them last year. IMHO it's much easier to have a large flock of chicks around the same age than 2 smaller sets spaced a few weeks apart. I should be able to get a firm date on when TSC expects to have chicks which will give me a good incubation start date. I'll go from there.
I can probably go through a large hatchery but IMHO BYC people tend to know their birds fairly well and I'd rather go that route. I would even be open for an egg swap from my hens as their eggs are fertile.
Chick days is still a moth or so off so there is no rush. I just like to plan in advance.
Thanks
