We had a predator get our little silkie hen and her roo is brokenhearted. Pet quality is fine...I actually prefer a non-bearded hen with not too big a topknot. I want her to be able to see well as they run with our LF hens.
I have installed an electric fence around the coop today...top and bottom... and hope to shock any predator to death!! We'll keep it off during the day when the chickens are free ranging, but the minute they go up, it will go on! I HATE coons!!
These are my daughters chickens and she was recently deployed to Iraq. I hate to tell her, but she would want to know. In the meantime, I need to get the poor little roo a wife.
I don't mind driving to pick her up as long as it's only 1-2 hours from Gainesville.
Thanks!
