My rooster was my favorite. He was low man on the totem pole, gentle, let me pick him up, pet him, bathe him when necessary. Then we realised he was a he when he crowed. Shortly after that he started becoming aggressive. It escalated until he started drawing blood. He is now in a bachelor pad so I don't have to deal with his aggression.
That being said, your boy sounds a bit more friendly. Hopefully he will learn you aren't one of his hens and will be one of those wonderful rooster I hear about.

Could always try Faverolles. My guy is about as docile as a non lapbird roo can be. But he will still size up any noise or movement and watch his ladies well, just not charge headlong into anything first.

Seriously though, I’ve read here many times about friendly, frequently handled and hand fed cockerels causing trouble when they come into puberty. I would wear a cowboy hat for a while, just in case. You don’t want those big toenails to land on your face. Maybe you can ease him back in line with the advice folks have offered. I hope so... he’s a beautiful boy. I would hate to lose him if he were mine.

If it doesn’t seem to be working out, well, there are always more roosters. Unless he’s a valuable breeder, necessary for your plans, I’m not sure I’d put up with very much of that kind of behavior. It’s not only dangerous to you, but to anyone else who might come into contact with him—especially children.

If he were a Buff he would have a good rehome in one of my coops!

I've heard that before, might bear looking into. Mine is a Lavender Orpington.

"Gentleman" Jim Bean, he is an awesome roo. Took his deworming meds like a champ, I was proud of him! Lavender Orps are beautiful, almost got a cockerel a few weeks ago but stuck with a BLR cockerel from the same flock instead. But my experiences with SFs led me to see them as one of the most gentle of breeds.

He is a handsome fella, reminds me of why I find Lavendar Orps so eye catching.

Just been reading your thread & wondered how you are getting on with Zeus? I have a 6 month old Light Brahma & up until a couple of weeks ago I was pretty sure it was a hen, but now I'm not so. My concern, if it is a Roo, how will my smaller girls cope with him when he gets amorous? ( the hen that looks like the Brahma is a Light Sussex). Also does your fella crow yet?
