I have searched but not much on here about Bill deformities and how/what to do to help, if anything.

I have 2 Rouen ducklings I am guessing a few weeks old. Got them last week Friday and store indicated they got them that week. It wasn’t until after getting them home and a day or so later I notice one has a deformed bill. Hubby said to take it back (but I know they will dispose of it and I am NOT ok with that) so it will just be my WuckyDucky.

Anyways, I noticed it was eating and drinking good and in the last day I have noticed it is breathing heavy and mouth breathing and the skin behind the nostril flares but it still mouth breaths (like the nostrils are closing off or blocked).

Being new to ducks I am not sure what my options are to help or if I even need to. The other duck protects it from our chicks and follows it around.❤️ Here is a few pix of him/her. Please let me know what your thoughts are or if I am worried for nothing!

Can you see through it’s nares? Maybe it has food stuck. Make sure it can dunk it’s head and keep those nares cleaned out as casportpony said. Adorable little one.

Thank you I can see in one nare easily and just added the duck water I got at the feed store vs the chicken waterer I had in there, now that the chicks are big enough. The ducks seemed really happy I did that. :)

I have the same problem that's why I got him. Because I was afraid they would do away with him if I didn't get him. Mine is about 5 wks he is doing great I give him a deeper feeder so he can scoop and I make sure he has alot of deep water so he can scoop that as well . He also likes to put his bill in the water stream when I'm filling the bowl. This is quasi
