Wish I could on the BLRW but I think I only got 1 hen out of the 4 that hatched.

Now on the Wheaton Maran I have a clean leg young pullet chick hatched on 3/27 that I'm thinking of letting go . I had a great hatch on them 5 pullets out of 6 eggs! My Cuckoo Maran male will have 2 older girls to go with him if someone wants them as a trio or a pair. Also have 5 more hatching for sale. I just got home from work and have 1 Cochin/Blk Star cross hatched and 1 Cm pip. They were due to hatch on the 21st.

So looks like I 'll have some (Partridge)Cochin crosses. He was trying to take over as top roo. Looks like he almost made it.

They are so cute as day olds.

I'm new here (and totally new to chicken raising/owning)
Planning to attend Chickenstock on Saturday and we're looking to start a small flock of standard hens for laying. We're looking for frequent layers that are docile and will do well in cold weather. Based on a breed selection tool we found on another chicken site, we learned that Delawares, Jersey Giants, Salmon Faverolles, Dorkings and Ameraucanas would be good choices. Anyone going to be there selling any of those breeds? I'm hoping that we can connect with some sellers and create a great flock!

I'm sure someone will have what you're looking for. Keep in mind, that website (mypetchicken?) only has the selector for the breeds they sell. There are other breeds out there that may fit what you want. There is a breed selector on this site as well, with a much larger selection of breeds.

Are you wanting to start with adult chickens or chicks?

Thanks for referring me to the breed selector on BYC. Totally different recommendations - we'll keep them in mind on Saturday!

Ok, so I think I am going to bring these three buckeye chicks and the two silkie chicks, anyone have advice on how to transport week old chicks. I mean I'm going to put them in a box, but how worried to i need to be about heat over nite in the hotel room? If I buy a couple of hand warmer packs and put them in there will that be enough to keep them warm over night and the next day?

So far I have 1 Blk BLRW most likely ROO, Wheaton Maran Roo and 1 youger by 3 wks Pullet, 2~ 6 wk old Cuckoo Maran Pullets and 1CM roo hatched 3/27

Tammy I got my 2 new coops for my b-day done. Hubby was so nice to do that! Although some of it was do to his wanting 60 Cornishx hens (meat birds) Thats was fine with me. Since I get what I want but he does not need to know that
