Anyone interested in a LF Araucana rooster? I have a gorgeous tailed blue with gold lacing (from rumpless stock--he's the only one out of that hatch with a tail) and a rumpless black (who seems huge to me, but I don't have that much to compare him against). They're both free to a good home. We're in Northern Virginia and I'm planning on trying to attend on Saturday.
 
I really wish everything was loaded and all of my decisions were made already....

Anyone interested in a Lavender Roo? He is the lavender roo I used to introduce lavender into my orpington flock...

He is basically a nice mutt (part Ameraucana/part Orpington) quite friendly. PM me for details.

well. I dont know what to do. I change my mind from one minute to the next.
I might not come out.
It seems my MD NPIP number and paperwork from this weeks testing is not enough for WV.
I have about 50 chicks here that apparently cant cross the state line ...... anyone want to meet me at the border?
It is so rediculous... Im a little ticked!
 
Uh oh, then it sounds like I am out for selling chicks as well. I am not NPIP certified at all. Don't want to get into trouble or have the swap get shut down.

I am still coming though, I have a little Cochin roo and a Splash Orp to pick up

Im hoping today is better than this morning. I heard peeping coming from my hatcher last night and thought... that's strange... they're not supposed to hatch til tomorrow. I went and checked and a 3 day old rosecomb was in there???? I quickly realized my 3 yr old must have been "in-u-bating" Coincidentally, my precise thermometer quit on me.

So, I haven't messed with the hatcher temp at all in two days. It's been spot on so I wasn't concerned... I took the peep back into the garage and in the brooder and checked on the eggs before bed... A PIP!!! goody.. off to bed.

Woke up this morning and it was still pipped

as sometimes they mis the air cell and need to be helped) and the eggs were so hot, I could hardlly touch them! My wee one was in-u-bating all right

I don't know how other states work exactly.

And I don't know what the ruling is regarding chicks as we don't have to test anything under 6 months here in WV.

I do know that before I take birds into VA or MD that I have to be NPIPed and AI tested/free within a 10 day window of crossing the state lines. We also have to get a permit # from VA well in advance of crossing the state line. We do it all the time for shows and have no problems. The people are so easy to work with.
 
can the guy testing birds tomorrow issue that permit number?
I have the paperwork from the adults being tested this week.
my chicks are all under 2 months .
I dont mind having them tested tomorrow.... but do I have to be a WV resident for that?
 
I am going to the liquor store today to pick up empty boxes.... suggest every one else do the same.

ALSO We owe a gigantic THANK YOU to majestic and msbear.
In fact..... I think everyone should tip them for all the time they invested in organizing this....

Actually I just had similar, and no 3-year-old. Just me. I disobeyed the first two laws of LG's--don't fiddle with the temp when you are tired and don't fiddle with the temp when you can't check on it.

It was a little low, I was really really tired. I turned it up. A little bit. I went to bed.

In the morning they were 107.

End of story.

And BTW, I was planning to get chicks from Peachick, too, I am really sad tht I won't be there.
