Hi all I have this chick that is truly throwing me. They were hatched out approximately May 21st, and came from a breeding pen that had Red Laced Blue Wyandottes and a Black Laced red wyandotte in it. I figured big red face is a boy, but I know wyandotte patterns aren't usually as showy on boys. Maybe it's the age still though. Anyone wanna throw out their opinion on it too? I've done a thorough look over and do NOT see pointy saddle feathers, as much as a few frayed ones kind of look to be in photos. It is no larger than any of the same aged chicks I have, and does not act any more roostery like other boys I've had at this age. Infact my husband swears when it sits it has "hen hips" whatever that means 😂

I'm thinking cockerel. It's these feathers that are making me wonder.

They're darker red, which is a sign of a cockerel.
Interesting observation. I will definitely keep my guard up a little longer then - haha. It does not have the same attitude as a clear roo OE I have of the same age. But time will tell 😬

Thanks all, they're here to stay for a little longer either way, so I guess only time will tell. I will be so sad if it's a boy, but it's been a rough year of all the roo's for us anyways 😅 so I wouldn't be even remotely surprised.
