Wyandotte lying down

She worsened, and walking became difficult. First limping one foot, then both. I had to bring food and water to her and keep her isolated. Not much of a life. I suspected Marek's and, on inspection, my vet confirmed this as most likely. I thought it best to PTS. Other chooks are fine.

Sorry to hear that you had her PTS, if I'm understanding you correctly?

It's hard, but it's worse when you don't have the strength to PTS an animal that can't make it but can't die a quick death either. In being someone who rehabilitates rather than PTS, giving them TLC, you may well see many seemingly impossible recoveries, but occasionally you also see the harrowing cases that failed, but not as quickly as would have been merciful. It's a fine line to tread, and often a hard one, trying to save anything that looks like it might make a go of it. I think you made the best choice here.

Best wishes.
