Wyandotte or Barnevelder?

Barnevelders are double laced, this bird is not. Also getting a Blue Barnevelder from a feed store/hatchery would be extremely rare.

I thought barnies could be just laced or doubled laced. Is that not true? Also OP said their feed store got birds from a small local hatchery, not a big one, due to shipping restrictions in California. I also think a single comb Wyandotte is more plausible, but don’t think a Barnevelder can be entirely ruled out? Or mix of course!

WAs sold to me as an olive egger day old chick by my local feed store but clearly it is not. Lays a “normal“ color light brown egg
Wynadotte with a single comb? Or Barnevrlder? And what color?View attachment 2315245

I know this is an old thread, but blue laced barnevelders can be single laced. This is why some roosters of this variety have lacing. Blue laced barnevelders aren’t actually too uncommon, and I know of two large hatcheries which have them in stock.

@Jodizon ’s hen is a blue laced barnevelder.
