I don't know the official name for this Wyandotte. I'm pretty certain he's a cockerel but would like some verification. He recently has developed an attitude.

Thanks in advance!

It's a Gold Laced Wyandotte. I think it's a pullet because a) I don't see any prominent hackle or saddle feathers that should be present at this age if it were a cockerel b) It would have most likely crowed already as most cockerels start crowing between 2-3 months. c) Yes, the comb and wattles are red and growing larger but that is because she's nearing laying and wyandottes are known to have faster comb/wattle development then some other breeds. But all pullets at this age start developing red and larger comb/wattles. d) the ends of the feathers are rounded=pullet, not pointed=cockerel and e) the lacing pattern is that of a female, the lacing pattern of a male wyandotte is different, less uniform and more streaky then laced. All in all, you've got a pullet.

I have silver laced Wyandottes that are 15 weeks old. I have three that have developed a redness to their combs & wattles. They do vary in their patterns but not consistant to their combs. We have not had anyone crowing. I am pretty sure that those 3 are roosters but to me, they LOOK like hens (in body shape & even feathers). It's just the red that is telling me that they are roo.
I'd love to say that yours looks like a pullet, but I'm leaning towards roo. Just the way yours is standing says roo to me.
GOod luck.

My SLW roo had quite a bit of red in his comb at only 4 weeks. Here he is at 14 weeks:

But my GLW pullets are not 4 months old yet. Maybe they will have wattles like yours?
