I was told that these three chicks are silver-laced Wyandottes but they are growing feathers on their shanks and toes! Has anyone heard of this or are they more likely to be Cochins or a cross-breed? The birdies are about four weeks onld in the pictures. The feathers have gotten much longer and fuller in the last few days!

Thanks!

I would guess mutts or hatchery birds that were crossed with Cochins (body style), for genetic diversity, and some of the cochin is showing up on these chicks.

Interesting... Two of the chicks (I think these two are roosters) have a wide reddish-pink comb area. There are no ridges or anything yet but kind of a knobby appearance. The other one is "prettier" with a narrow head and pale peachy comb area. I'll try to take some better pictures tonight.

Big Boy (He is my troublemaker and I had him pegged for a boy from the get go! He has a very wide red comb)

I'll come up with better names for them eventually!
