Wyandottes

I have one SLW. We have very hot, humid summers here, and there weren't any problems with the heat at all.

I don't like this particular bird (bossy!), but I only have one. A long distance friend of mine absolutely swears by them; they're his favorites. And they are beautiful!!! Their chests look as if they're covered in dragon scales.

I have one SLW left. If it hadn't been for that hawk, I would still have the noisiest hen that ever graced my backyard. Athena chattered constantly--in a good way, of course--and begged treats from strangers. I sure miss her.

I think you will like them, Katy.

Thanks for all your replies. I'm going to order some in the early spring....now I just have to decide how many and what colors.....or maybe I'll just get some of each!!

Wyandotte bantams are my main breed. We have blue laced red, dun, silver laced, dun laced, barred, white, and black. We had some accident chicks that were dun laced red and were very pretty but we decided not to work on another variety. I love them, they lay like crazy, have a great temperment, and go broody often.

Mine have done really well here, and we have high temps and humidity. I lost one girl this summer, but I'm thinking maybe something was going on with her, because all my others did fine.

I have blue laced red, and they're really huge and fluffy. They started laying like crazy in the spring, but I had about half of mine go broody, and spent the last half of the summer trying to hatch just about anything. They're just now starting to lay well again.
