Some of my BLRW pullets who hatched towards the end of June have just in the last couple weeks started laying. My other wyandottes took awhile to get going too.

Buying sexed chicks cracks me up. I have bought sexed chicks several times now and they also were not what I expected! One pullet EE crowed at 3 months and the other has not laid an egg yet, the Marans pullet had a comb that would be the envy of any roo, and then the BSL lays the most beautiful chocolate eggs I could hope for.Hey folks. First post from a Chick-novice.
My story goes like this:
Bought 3 buff Orpington Chicks - Apparently sexed "hens".
At 8 weeks, we noticed that 2 "Buffs" where indeed, black.
From 3 chicks, we received 1 buff.
At 16 weeks, said buff hen started crowing.
Buff hen = Buff Rooster.
Buff Roo re-homed to a farm (a real farm, not the proverbial one in the sky, phew)
2 Remaining chicks are 1 x Gold Laced Wyndotte, and one "NFI" Chook.
Both lovely, big, glossy birds that have a lovely free range life with good food.
Our two hens are now 7 months old.
And.not.a.single.bloomin'.egg.
No mites, no worms, enough sun, good food..... So.. why won't my chickens lay?
