Maybe we need to make a list of all the diseases a person could catch from their pets. This whole issue of birds being these disease balls while dogs and cats fart sunshine and rainbows really gets on my nerves.
great idea! my other half is really allergic to cats, peanut butter, shellfish. but not chickens! i would be interested to know all the diseases we can catch from different animals, as one person at my city council meeting was grump about avian flu. we do have west nile virus around here, and it affects birds, horses, people, and i don't know what else. of all the chickens i have raised i have NEVER had a diseased one, thank God. and i have NEVER caught any crap from them either.
It's a good start, now we have to wait to see what kind of guidelines that they decide to follow. Hope that they are generous and give us a little more leeway with the amount of birds allowed, but will be glad just to see that municipalities are realizing that raising chickens has become an important issue to many of us.
I just wanted to see if anyone here has chickens & lives in Wyoming. I saw that the family in the news got to keep their chickens and the current ordinances seem to say that I can have them if I follow conditions set by a code official. I'd like to start a small flock of laying hens for my family, but I want to make sure I've dotted all my i's & crossed all my t's. So any experiences, suggestions, etc. would be appreciated.
Has this been fixed yet? I want to get chickens and live in Wyoming MI but all I can find are articles of people fighting for or against but nothing in the actual ordinance saying they are not allowed...
