X-box 360. Is it worth it? What r some good games?

My step son is on his 3rd. Over heats and goes bad. They fix it but you have to send it out. We have had a Wii for a couple years. No problems with it. The whole family likes to play. A lot of diffrent games. We think it is fun.

Google "Red Ring of Death." The 360 isn't necessarily a reliable system.

That said, we have one. However, DH says that once it dies, it won't be replaced. Coming from him, that says a lot. He collects video games and related equipment.

What genres of games do you like? It's probably best to decide which system has the best choices of games; for example, if you like racers, music games and "good" platformers, go with the PS3. The 360 has a lot of racers and FPS (first-person shooters). If you want kids' games or family games, pick up a Wii.

i love my 360 the only problem is that it is so temperamental that if something isnt plugged in all the way the ring of death appears on the front with is a red circle and if you dont hit the button with in 10 or 20 sec it kills the whole system and your out of a xbox. otherwise i love it. graphics are awesome and the handling is soooo good!

i have a wii
The Ps3 is one hundred dollars more. Not really an amount of money i want to spend.

ETA: A couple of online sources have told me that the RRoD is not really a huge issue on newer models.

The Xbox also has an advantage in online gaming. Hardware fixes are believed to have repaired the "Red Ring of Death" system failures that plagued earlier models.

Older models of the Xbox 360 were plagued by general system failures -- the dreaded Red Ring of Death (RRoD), but design changes may have made those more of a bad memory. Either way, a retroactive three-year warranty against the RRoD (other problems are still only covered for one year) can add some peace of mind.

We have a wii, ps3, and a 360. We got the 360 at launch and had to send it back after a year and a half (but we had three people logging over 25hrs a week A PIECE on Oblivion for about a month and a half, so i think that had something to do with it). Since we got our new one from Microsoft we've had no problems. The newer models are always a far sight better in performance than launch systems, so i wouldn't worry too much about it dying.

Now that it's been a while since the ps3 was launched, they had a TON more problems with their launch units than 360, but they've mainly worked out their bugs too.

Wii never had any real system failures that are noteworthy, some people's had a problem spitting disks out and stuff, but Nintendo is really good about replacement units.

As far as games go, 360 has a lot more shooters/action games and most of them are multiplayer, so that's a plus for some (like DH and myself). There are some decent RPGs on the 360 now, ALL of Square Enix new RPGs are on the 360 (star ocean, ffXIII etc.). Capcom is making games exclusively for 360, which include Dead Rising (zombie launch title), Street Fighter V etc. Plus there's Resident Evil 5, and Valve's new game, Left4Dead (more zombies!).

Other games like Tomb Raider and ALL the sports games are on both (if not all three) systems... Basically we have the ps3 for those odd RPGs and arcade games that won't come to 360 like the Pixel Junk games, The Last Guy, MGS4, Uncharted, Persona, Valkyria Chronicles etc.

Wow, i know way too much about video games
