Y my chickens won't roost in coop, had them since April 2020. They roost in runner up high at night

No. would they really be red so I can spot them. Do u have suggestion on stopping water from freezing?

To check for mites run a paper towel across the roost at nighttime, and look for red smears.

For freezing water, do you have electricity in the coop or run?
