I got an email today that says its from Yahoo! Security Alert.
it asks for my username and password and a few other things.

Do I have to do this? Is this real or a scam to get my info?

I agree.
I've gotten to where I hate my yahoo mail account. Hate yahoo period, for all the cookies it dumps on my puter.

Normally I can tell whats what and just delate the junk mail, but now the scammers are getitng good, lol.

I figured it was a hoax, but the email address is: Yahoo! Security Alert [email protected]
and on the botton it says:

This is a different yahoo problem...

I am not getting BYC subscribed topic alerts/emails any more. I didn't change anything, they just stopped coming to my yahoo email.

Any ideas?
