So, I have a Yardbird chicken plucker that I acquired used, and it needs a fuse replacement. How much do the fuses usually cost, who would I contact to help me change it, and how much of a pain is it? I'm not electrically savvy, so I don't feel comfortable doing this repair myself. If I want to sell the unit instead of replacing the fuse, how much should I ask for it? It also needs a replacement finger set.

It may also have sat out in the rain. I didn't figure that rain would be a big deal since it works with water, but maybe it is? More things to replace/repair?

Thoughts?

Did you get it running? If so what was wrong
Haven't gotten it running yet, looks like it's not something I'm going to have time to fix. I've told my husband it's a task for him. If he doesn't do something with it before next spring, I'll probably sell for scrap or parts. But husband works with electronics more than I do, so he may have some good ideas. When we have an update, I'll post.

I'm going through the same thing. I got a damaged unit from a friend. Looks like the gasket malfunctioned and let water in. So I had to replace the switch, relay and fuse. I'm still waiting on the fuse. My problem is that I'm in Canada and I can't order parts directly through the site. So I just surfed Amazon for equivalent replacement parts. The fuse was the trickiest. It's a 12 amp fuse so it's kinda rare. Still waiting on that part. I may install everything and bypass the fuse to see if it atleast works.

Ok so I replaced the switch and bypassed the relay to make sure the motor was good. Then I had to figure out how the relay worked. I'm no expert but looks like the relay is there for the magnetic switch. I was worried about it affecting the capacitor but the capacitor is inline with the motor so no worries. Fuse was good even though I broke one of the "load" leads while removing cables. Big issue is this gasket since it's gonna take a year to get one at triple the price. I may just silicone it and do my best to divert the water when using it.
