Well, I'm a second time chicken owner. My husband and I had a flock of 13 hens and a roo way back in the day; were fully grown when we got them. Now that we recently retired we've built a 20 x 40 ft. enclosed roost/run, with an additional 1/2 acre fenced for foraging. Oh, happy gals! Currently, we have 21 hens and a roo that are 17 weeks old and 36 (with about 8 roos, as far as we can tell) that are 10 weeks old, all raised from day old--oh, boy! Talk about new learning experience! Currently the bigs and littles are separated within the run; but I see a problem coming: bigs will be laying soon and I'm not sure when we can put our bigs and littles together and I must make room for nest boxes! I think I joined BackYard Chickens in the nick of time! Anyway, we have a beautiful mixed flock of several different breeds; I just like to look out and see pretty, not worried so much about eggs or meat production. So much to learn but so glad I joined!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

Your flock sounds lovely, we'd love to see photos! :)

Good luck with the integration, make sure the babies are a couple few months old before mixing to prevent injuries, go slow.

Make yourself at home here!
