Yay! First ‘Scovy egg!

Just as a note, I believe that Daphne laid her first egg in roughly 6 months overnight. It looks perfect, not at all misshapen or soft. I assume it is hers as it is in a different nest and is larger than the ‘Scovy eggs. Here’s to hoping for no complications!

‘Scovy note - Goon 2 is moderately broody. I have to carry her outside in the AM, but that is sufficient to interrupt her broodiness for at least a bit. Goon 1 seems to have gone from zero to 100% broody overnight and is currently sitting and squeaking loudly at anyone who dares to get near. I’ll remove all eggs this weekend.

Daphne is disappointed that her buddies don’t want to go on adventures with her. Maybe it really is time for a Mallard derived buddy for her.
Yaass more ducklings!

Operation Egg Theft was a success. Both ‘Scovies had 9 and Daphne had two. Decided to take a picture to show the size and color difference between the Muscovy eggs and Daphne’s eggs. I’m sure that most people will know which is which, but for those who don’t - top egg is a Rouen egg, bottom egg is a Muscovy egg!

This thread should be relabeled as the thread in which I ramble on about my ducks and their eggs!

Anyways, funny discovery this morning. Goon 1 tried out being broody yesterday, but decided it was boring. This AM, she laid her egg so close to Goon 2’s nest that it rolled over to her extremely broody sister. Now, Goon 1 is out enjoying the beautiful spring weather while Goon 2 is babysitting both eggs! :lau
