Yay! getting more ducks!

tdgill, how could you resist those big brown rotty eyes? they make the saddest faces sometimes, its too cute!

the ducks LOVE the creek, obviously they havent been down in a while, they usually eat up all that 'water clover' stuff in the pics.

we have countless natural springs all over the property that feed into the creek...our pond needs to be revampped since it was manmade & slowly has gotten yucky. i just got some calla lillies for it a while ago. it's big though and has to be dug out and the creek re-routed through it to keep it all clear.

we get salmon spawning in it normally every year, but the weather was bad here with flooding & such the last couple years so havent seen much of them lately. the ducks love the little fish though, lol.

Here's a bigger picture of part of their 'play area'

during the last few winters its swollen out past those 2 big trees...needless to say, the ducks loved it.

I really need to look into some of that netting, i was thinking of moving everyone into the barn for winter since its covered better. but its open-faced for the hay mows so i would have to drop netting from the ceiling to make it 'bird safe'. i know someone else that uses aviary netting, i love her set up, looks like it makes things SO much easier.

They were just telling the geese (and you know how loud those women ducks are) they AREN't coming back, they are fed up with 9 months of Alaskan winters! The geese honked back (laughed) and I heard them say: Rain! Weather only a duck would love!
