Congrats! I love my buffs!

Jody,
My dad is the one who opened it not me. We took them out when they were dry not when they were wet.

LOL..Purple, you've been ratted on.

That's ok..hey, they're your eggies now.

How are the babies doing? I hope all is going well.

Drumstick - I know you'll be the one fussing over those cuties, so make sure to hold them lots. Then you'll get a big girl, like my Big Mama, who will tug on your pants to pick her up for a cuddle. OH..and like my Peachie who yells at you until you sit down so she can hop on your lap for an afternoon rest and massage.

You did want that kind of chickens, right? LOL

Jody

OK I'm busted. That's ok cause I'm so proud of Drumstick, my little chicken hatcher
and now BYC member.

I thought we were supposed to take them out after a few hours and they dried
off.

How long are you supposed to wait until you take them out of the bator?

They started hatching yesterday morning and I think we have a few more to go yet.
9 out of 19 have hatched. (8 out 14 of Jody's Buffs and 1 out of 5 of our frisky
Leghorn crosses). Today is day 21. Day 22 starts in an hour or two since we
started them on a friday night.

Oh, and if any parents out there were indecisive about hatching some eggs with
your kids you've gotta do it. It makes Christmas morning seem dull.

I usually wait until I think the hatch is finished. I have found opening it too soon can cause the other pipped eggs to dry out, so it's better to wait it out if you can. As long as you're happy and the chicks are doing well, that's all that matters.

I agree - there is nothing better than sharing a chicken hatch with your family. My 10 year old enjoys it with me too. It is truly amazing watching them unroll out of that egg and looking up at you like "are you my mommy".

Every chick I watch hatch is just as precious as the first.
