I have 2 5 week old pullets...they wouldnt go down the ramp into their run by themselves...we had to pick them up and put them in the run in the AM and put them back into the coop in the PM. For the last 3 days i left the ramp open but did not assist them. They hung out in the coop all day for 3 days. This morning I gentley guided them down the ramp..and to my surprise...when i went out to guide them up the ramp..they were already in...ON THEIR OWN...and perched by the window where they sleep. THEY ARE SUCH GOOD GIRLS

Eggscellent! See, chickens aren't as stupid as we think they are.... sometimes..... I also cheer when they accomplish something finally, all by themselves! (I carried 9 full grown chickens into a coop for two nights in a row, when I changed their coop. The third night, they decided that was too undignified, and they went in the chicken door by themselves.)

I'm a first time chicken owner myself and my little chickens learned in 3 days to go up their ramp to go to bed. We were so excited. I LOVE my chickens. I'm wondering why I didn't decide to raise chickens sooner!! They are so adorable !!
