So I am a teacher at a small school and I checked the tracking number on my ducks and they should arrive tomorrow. I asked our principal if I could pick them up at lunch and bring them back to school, instead of them sitting at the post office until the end of the day. He agreed!

I can't wait to show my students (6th graders). Works out nice because I have a science class at the very end of the day. Maybe I can see what names my students come up with?

Only downside is I need to come up with a brooder for the afternoon. I have seen some use a larger storage container, so I have plenty of those. I'll bring the food and water setup as well. And the heat lamp, of course!

I don't think I will let my students handle them, as they will be stressed as it is from being shipped. Plus germs. I think they will enjoy simply looking at them though.

So excited! Fingers crossed they make the trip from California okay!

How exciting! The kids will love them! I agree you should wait a couple days before letting the kids handle them. When I get "babies" I usually get them situated in their brooder and once they figure out the food and water I start handling them so they get used to me.

I don't think I will keep them or bring them back to school after tomorrow. I did set up a webcam that I will keep streaming online during the day when I am not at home. I have been testing the webcam on my dogs. Gosh - are they lazy during the day! I showed my students this morning and they could see my two Beagles barking out the front window. Now they have been sleeping all afternoon! Even the cats appear to be camera shy or else avoid the living room during the day!

That's too funny! We have an office attached to our house and I will sneak up on the dogs to see what they are doing and yep...usually sleeping!

You will have to post some pictures once your new ducklings arrive!

They are here! To my surprise, I received a phone call at 5:55 a.m. from the post office that they were ready to be picked up. By 6:30 a.m., I was knocking on the door and anxious to see my girls!

They look great! Healthy, chirping, moving around. I took them home and showed them their water. They haven't rested since. It's not 9:00 a.m. Is that normal? They were eating and drinking well, which made me very happy. Even seeing them both poop made me happy - ha!

I did take them to school this morning. My students are very much enjoying their company! Not letting them touch or pick them up, but they can watch and laugh as they move around.

Good job, sounds normal, be careful of over stimulation, maybe cover their top and let them have some time out from all the kids and noise. looking forward to pics..
