Ok, I just had to share my good news...

I'm getting married! (I know, I know...congrats and all that...blah, blah, blah...)

But there's a story ---
The guy I'm marrying is my high school sweetheart (we graduated in 1990) AND my ex-husband. (I have been referring to him here in the forums as DH, even though he technically was not.)

Crazy, huh?

Welllllll, we first got married a month out of high school when we were both 17, had our son 2 years later, then our daughter 3 years later, and ended up divorced a few years after that. We were married for 11 years and divorced for 4 or 5 (I think- I'd have to count back to be sure), got back together a few years ago and have been living (happily) together with the kiddo's ever since.

I just got an engagement ring on Saturday, which was the date of our (original) wedding anniversary.

We are planning to wait until the same day next year to have the wedding.

Isn't that cool? I don't know too many people that can even speak to their ex's, much less re-marry them. I don't know if it was that we started out too young in the beginning or what...but I'm so glad we finally managed to get back on the right track.

Now, we're thinking since 'this ain't our first rodeo', maybe we should run to Vegas and let Elvis perform the ceremony in one of those drive-thru chapels.

Our first wedding was on the beach barefooted and in swimsuits, with only a handful of people present. Then a month later we had a 'fake' ceremony in a church with the white gown and all the booooring wedding stuff so that our families could be there. Neither one of us wants to do THAT again.
Any ideas for a really fun way to do this? I'd love some different ideas. We do, of course, want our children to be present. They will be 10 and 15 by then.

LOL! That'd be a hoot!!! I can see it now..the entire congregation would be our girls all lined up on the perch behind us...hee heee...

Congrats, my best friend and I wish u a wonderfull wedding ( Maybe your wedding should be in a beautifull garden)!
Good luck!!!

Annette & Frances.

Congratulations. I beg you not to do the drive thru vegas/elvis thing. Thats almost making a joke of it. This time should be special to you both. You both have grown up some and lived apart and when all was said and done here you are. Thats pretty amazing and worthy of a special day more than the last. The first time you 'thought' you wanted to spend your lives together.....now you 'know it'! My opinion is that you think of a place that you both think of when you think of 'getting away'. My DH and i went to a waterfall on the side of the road with a jop. One day we found it out driving and stopped the car and walked over and just stood there amazed that this was just there.......on the side of the road. I think you should go to a 'special place' of your own because this time is more special than the last.
Your kids must be sooooooo happy!!!!!

That day is your most inportant day make it very memorable whatever you both choose, remember there is always the aniversaries you can do silly thngs, for example, we love to dress up and do renaissance faires, and we're tossing around doing a renn. wedding for our 15th wedding anniversary...wow so long..lol writing it makes it look so LOOOOOOOOONG.

Either way CONGRADULATIONS & BEST WISHES FOR A WONDERFUL LONG LIFE TOGETHER

That is what I am sort of planning for our 10th anniversary. We were highschool sweetheatrs too. Met and soon got together at 14 and 15. Of course we waited to get married until 24 and 25 and know we would not have worked if we didn't. We went through a lot during those 10 years. It makes a hug difference! Congrats! /i am glad everything worked out for you and the kids!
