One of our hens laid the very first egg of her life today. So appropriate for the day before Easter. She laid and it and went on about her business not saying a word. Good thing is that she went back to the coop to lay!!!

Now, will we be getting an egg from her every day?

Great feeling isn't it??? There's no guarantee that she will lay every single day (depending on the breed) but can surely count on regular eggs from her!!

We just got done painting our Easter eggs. 4 dozen with about a dozen and a half left - all different sizes and colors. I adore my chickens, truly I do.

congrats!!! She may need a little time to be 'regular' and the first few eggs may be smaller. Depending on breed she may lay several days a week. Mine average 3 - 5 eggs per chicken per week, mostly 4-5 now that the days are longer.

more or less it takes 24 to 26 hours to make and lay an egg. and depending on age and light and food intake. my bantees started to lay last month and they made a lot of noise with each one. have fun.
