Ok, you all may think I'm crazy, but I have found out that I can candle at 24 hrs. and see the bulleye better. Not on all, but on a lot of them, or a few. Gives me an idea that I do actually have fertile eggs..better than cracking them open to see if one has the bullseye! After 24 hrs. it's funny, but you don't see anything usually until>>sometimes day 4. Usually day 7 for sure.

Just candled...I see veins in my light eggs..will have to wait on the BBM's.!

Tentative good news...I think I see something brewing in the eggs! The dark blob is getting bigger and more defined and the aircells are looking good. Still can't see any veins though, I need more lumens!

OMG!!!!!!!!!!! I candled and have 7 out of 11 definitely with veins etc, and the other 4 with big ???
I kissed my little Silkie eggs and put them back in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, I just candled too. I'm really disappointed about my blue birch Marans..not sure about them.. I have 6, and I think..think..that one is viable.

Those, and my EE eggs came on the same day. The EE eggs were sent out on a weekend, a Sat. and they arrived on Thurs. The Marans eggs were sent out on Mon..they also came on Thurs. Hmm....The EE eggs are doing great. 9 out of 12 are viable. Wonder what the gal will say..or do when I let her know about the maran eggs..they cost me double what I paid for the EE's. I won't ask for anything, will leave that up to her. The P.O. is different from different routes..or maybe there's a rough handler..you just never know.

Yes it is quite a gamble with shipped eggs! I bought some from a BYC'r (Silkie eggs) and not one hatched, I paid LOTS for them and she is a reputable seller, just the luck of the draw I guess. I had 4 Lav Orp shipped eggs hatch out of 15 , and they were incubated at the same time with the Silkie eggs so........ Am trying again with some i purchased on ebay, and so far so good!!
I guess it's a risk and it really makes me sad

when none hatch!!!!! Actually sick to my stomach and then aggravated

Sorry to hear about the Marans

I had to scramble(no pun intended) to find someone to turn my eggs while I was up in the mountains for Thanksgiving. I had totally forgotten until the night prior. Thankfully my future brother in law was able to take care of it for me. Whew!

So far I still can barely see into the brown eggs, but they're still developing.

Oh goodness the wait is killing me!!!! I have 20 in. I think all 20 are good. Did a mini candle on day 5
