Any other eastern NC'ers here seeing alot of snakes this year? I'm seeing ALOT more this year than in the past - just about all corn snakes. I saw 5 yesterday! they were full sized 3 to 4 feet long. Are they mating this time of year? Has all the rain got them moving? Or the temp up and down?

No idea! I'm in VA though, and PLEASE NO SNAKES HERE ON MY PROPERTY!! I'm scared to death of the things. Heck even lizards scare me!! I keep praying that all the animals I have will keep the snakes away! NO SNAKES ALLOWED!

I have seen alot more snakes this year then last. I had 1 eating my eggs yesterday in my coop. That was the 4th snake I saw in 2 weeks. I don't mind them to much but one was way over 5 ft long, that scared me.

We have only seen two so far. I was hoping that the guinea and the peacocks would keep them away. But two got by them. Last year we had a ton of big black snakes killing pullets and eating eggs. Hopefully we won't see too many more.

I havent seen one snake yet, but we have been finding alot of ticks on us and the pets, they seem really bad this year..........

Thanks for the yankee heads up!

While we dont have a huge snake community here in Ohio, I have seen more than my fair share of garter bsnakes this year. A neighbor had to drain his pond because it was FULL of 'em!

Kind of makes me glad I don't live in eastern Carolina anymore. Actually I don't mind snakes. As long as they stay in their space, I'll stay in mine.
ETA: Seen at least 10 dead moccasins on the roads here this spring.
