I have a pair of yearling IB pieds...today my hen was displaying like crazy to her "man" and the roosters in the pen over. It was hilarious. She got all squatty but the male wants nothing to do with her which I know is because he's too young. I know hens display, but I also found a few days ago what looks like a dug out nest in their barn. Is this normal? Does a yearling hen become hormonal like the rest if the animals in spring? Will she lay unfertilized eggs like chickens do? It's funny but I feel bad for her because she's acting like my mare in heat! Just curious as this is my first yr raising peafowl. Thanks!:)

I had a few lay at 10 ansd 11 months but the eggs were not fertile, so it is normal around my place, with Peas and some of my other kinds of birds here like my geese.

I got hen going in every direction by themselves into the woods in serch of a nesting area, been having to make extra rounds with the flusher dogs to make sure nothing is lerking in the woods.

My peas are nosie and sometimes they like to stick there head in where hens are laying , they never hurt the hens just rubber neck at them.
