For the first time in my don't even know how many years of chickens We encountered our first rooster dump! Someone abandoned him on our road two days ago and hes currently hanging whith our goats. Hes same size as our 2 yr nhr but lacks any fighting experience and they proceeded to terrify and harass him every time I or they interact whith him :( we actually just got a young polish cockeral and 2 pullets(not polish) who need a few weeks to grow. If we cant find a home for him is 1-2 roo to hens acceptable(I know its not ideal)? If I put my self on top will it keep down mating craze and aggression when our youngest is older?

Are you saying 1 rooster to 2 hens or 2 hens to 1 rooster? There should never be more roosters than hens! You could either get more hens, or give away a rooster!:thumbsup

1 rooster per 2 hens is fine. Just keep in mind that there will be a couple times a year that the roosters will need to be penned up, so the hens can re-feather when they get bare-backed, in addition to when they molt.

He looks pretty young to me, maybe 5 or 6 months? It looks like his spurs are just starting to come in. He looks pretty happy with his new goat friend! If you keep him separated like that you technically don't have to have hens for him.

Lol yeah the older girls terrify him for now and our little polish boys keeping watch of our baby girls so he doesnt get any ideas. I figure he can pen up whith the big girls if they'll let him, and if not he seems quite content "playing" chase and hanging whith our goats

He is beautiful.

@h2oratt we would if we had any spare coops at the moment :/ that's why he's in the goat area. But we vaccinated our birds again just recently and chicks got a water treatment carefully measured.
