Wondering if someone can help me figure out what is wrong with some of my hens! Two of my six chickens suddenly died a few days apart. The first one died after being sick for a few days. The weather had changed to being really hot and humid, the chicken stopped moving around and sat by her water bowl. I moved her in my house and fed her electrolytes. She had diarrhea. I thought she maybe had heat exhaustion. Unfortunately she died in the night. A few days later another one of my chickens died in the middle of the night. No obvious symptoms, but I noticed some yellow diarrhea in the coop. I treated all of the chickens by putting chlorine dioxide in their water to kill any bacteria or parasites. The yellow diarrhea improved but didn’t go away. I then got some Corid a few days later and put it in their water to treat the whole flock thinking that it might be coccidia. Two or three weeks have passed. I don’t know which chicken in my flock still has the yellow poop, but at least one of them does. They are almost 6 months old. I have NO idea what's wrong with them, nor do I know how else to treat this mystery. Id love input to help me figure out what's wrong or what to do?

A veterinarian could do a fecal float test. Even if they don't treat chickens, they will usually still test feces and be able to tell you if there are worms or other concerning organisms in the sample...

Sorry for your loss. How old are your chickens? Are they laying eggs? Do you have any pictures of the yellow poops? How did you mix the Corid and how long did you treat? Have you wormed your flock recently?

They are almost 6 months old. One of them laid her first egg this week- none of the others are laying yet. I mixed the Corid in their water and I treated them for almost two weeks with it bc the diarrhea never completely stopped, even though the instructions on the Corid bottle said to treat for 5 days. I stopped giving them Corid two days ago bc I didn’t feel I should be giving it for so long. The dosing instructions on the bottle were really confusing so it’s possible I’m giving a lower dose than I am supposed to- I give 7 ml in their half gallon water jug. In the past 24 hrs the diarrhea seems to be getting worse again. I give them a natural dewormer every few weeks. Thanks for your input and any advice you may have!
