Yellow, Foamy Poop.............

Ok so 19 week old chickens have yellow, foamy poop, please tell me this is normal.......is it???

Is it for certain the poop that yellow and foamy, or could it be the urine? I have a friend who works at an exotics clinic where they see a great deal of birds. Quoted directly from her:

First things first, determine what you're looking at, and if there's loose stool, no stool, or what.
Urine is the liquid; urates will be chalky. Loose stool will be akin to what we see with diarrhea.

She further recommends you check the ears, sclera and mucus membranes for jaundice. Also the exposed skin. If it's the urine that's yellow and foamy, and the ears, sclera and mucosa are showing signs of yellowing as well, then it's likely a liver problem.

If Not, then it could just be anomalous poop. My chickens can poop some super funky poops when they're stressed, overheated or drink too much water.

Do note, I am not a professional and she is not a veterinarian, so this is just and opinion on my part and an educated one on hers!​

Ahhh, the poop chart. Yellow and foamy is typical of worms. Use 1/2 cc Valbazen for a standard size birds. There are some good threads here on the subject.

you can also get Wazine, or Safeguard paste- i've never used Valbazen, how is it in comparison to Wazine-

Wazine must be repeated and only kills adult worms, not larvae. You will want to retreat in 2-4 weeks with a wormer that does kill larvae. Otherwise you have to keep using wazine over and over to kill the larvae that become adults.

Ivermectin and fenbendazole are the easiest to get and are effective and, though labeled for horses/cattle/swine, are great for poultry.

Ivermectin: pour-on, injectable (used orally), or horse-paste. Ask for dosage. 10 day withdrawal.
Fenbendazole (Safe-Guard): horse paste. bb-sized piece in the beak of each bird; 14 day withdrawal.

Do please worm first with Wazine. THen follow up with the more broad spectrum wormers and do them at least twice annually thereafter. Aim for when birds aren't laying so you don't have to toss their eggs. You CAN feed their eggs back to them during withdrawal.​

Ok I was going to go ahead and worm them today it's that time to do it again. It looks like that ceacal poop that's kinda like mustard.

yes i am going to use just Valbazen.....that wormer really works! It looks like the cecal poop on the links that artsyrobin gave me.

Without going back threw tons of threads and posts does safeguard kill as many types of worms as valbazen? I didn't think safeguard kills tapeworms unless is is use double strength at least is horses. (I think it s safeguard that they double dose for tapes in horses)
