I have been scrolling through all the other threads on lice/mites and couldn't find one related to what my problem is.
I went back to the chickens and was cuddling with my favorite boy Prince when I noticed he had these tiny yellow lice/mites on the bottom of his feathers near the base. I have no idea what they are and how he got them. I have 60+ chickens so it will take a while to check them all for these bugs. Their is a dust bathing spot where they can dust bathe but Prince is the bottom of the bottom when it comes to the pecking order and rarely gets a bathe because of being bullied away. I plan on adding a couple more dust bathing spots. I will see if I can get pictures of them in a bit. Any ideas on what these are, and how to get rid of them?

It sounds like lice. If one has them the others either do now or will. Have you added any new chickens recently. That is how some flocks bring in lice. Permethrin spray or garden dust are available at most feed stores and will treat them. Lice reproduce every 10 days, so at least 2 treatments 10 days apart need to be given. Elector PSP with spinosad, a more expensive product also works. The coop bedding should also be changed, and the nests, coop, and roosts should be sprayed. Most feed stores sell the permethrin liquid concentrate (Martins or Gordons) that can be mixed with water in a spray bottle to spray the chickens in warm weather, or in a garden sprayer for the coop. Here is a good link with pictures of lice and mites:

I did recently add 6 new girls to the flock after quarantining them. They may well could have given them all it.
I just changed the coop bedding about a week ago. I may need to redo that and spray everything down.
I will get either Elector PSP or Permethrin and spray everything and everyone down. Thank you!
