hello chicken friends - my name is charlie. my partner and I live with 2 dogs, a bunny, and our flock of quails and chickens in the greater Seattle area. when I was a kid my mom got my sister and I a couple of chicks… that both turned out to be roosters. but I was definitely bitten by the chicken bug at that time and had since been waiting for a yard / opportunity to have my own 
we got our pullets spring 2022.
we have 2 adult Orpingtons - a buff and a lavender. and a few young chicks; a jubilee orp and black australorps. (city regulations limit me to “5” chickens)
they are such great pets. super low maintenance day to day. perfect yard helpers. I love picking them up and giving them a big hug whenever they squat by my feet. having eggs gives me a little sense of freedom from the capitalist hellscape. and the chicken TV!
I spend a lot of time gardening, exercising, playing frisbee, and coaching.
I’ve been perusing BYC for some helpful and entertaining content over the past year or more and finally decided to join the discussions
