Hi hi! I'm Laura and I have just purchased 2 little chicks. I have 2 little boys and they were super excited. No idea what kind they are. The store said Amerucana and Sex Link but I'm not sure which is which. Here they are:

I am not good with chick ID's. Others will be by to welcome you to BYC that might know the breeds. But if you just can't wait, LOL, you can post these pics in our What Breed section here on BYC for some possible IDing...

I will go by there! Thanks for the welcome. I'm going to do some more research on the "coop" (box) they are in and make sure I have the right set up. They are egg layers, I hope, so I'll need to know when to move them to a more permanent home and how to get the eggs. I'm sure we will be adding more soon! Thanks again.

Thanks! That's what I was thinking. But the lady said the Black Star would lay blue and green eggs. I was reading up on them and I thought it said brown eggs. I'm sure eggs are a ways off anyways so I'll worry about that later. I appreciate the help!
 
Thanks! I was wondering, should I get more? I'm worried about them keeping warm and all that. I've also heard that sometimes chicks can die when they are young. I'd get some eggs from the swap but I don't have an incubator.
 
Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! If you plan on having more chickens, it is a lot easier if they are the same age and can be raised together, you can add more chickens later at different ages, but it takes longer and is more complicated. It is also nice to have a few extra, if like you said one happens to die or there is an accident, or one happens to be a rooster etc, it is usually pretty easy to sell or give away young pullets if you have too many of them later.
