my mom just took me to the feed store and we got 7 americanans, 3 buff orps, 1 delaware, 1 barred rock and last but not least 3 cayuga ducks. They are all so cute cant wait till i can see the feathers grow in. Also what is the between EE's and americana's They will make a great addition to my flock. How do u post pics?

To post pics you need to go to photobucket.com and start an account. You'll upload your pictures on photobucket.

Under your pictures you see URL copy and paste the URL onto your post then highlight it then click on the button that says Img over the smilies.

I hope I made this so you can understand it, it's really not that hard once you figure it out. Good luck with your babies!

The differences between EEs and Ameraucanas are like the differences between a purebred lab and a mix breed lab. They look similar, but are not the same.

Most hatcheries sell EEs and pass them off as Ameraucanas or Araucanas. You'll know its an EE is the legs are yellow, partially colored, and anything other than the Ameraucana breed standard of slate blue legs. Also, their colors will be more "hodge podge" or random, not really conforming to any real color standard. You can find photos of chicks and adult Ameraucanas on the Ameraucana Breeders Club website here:

http://www.ameraucana.org/

Click on Photos to look at the "accepted" color standards, and see if your chicks match up. Chicks from a feed store will probably not be pure, but dont fret! EEs are cute too! I have several and they are just as cute and friendly as our Ameraucanas.

This website will also give you more info on Ameraucanas.

this morning i went to check up on the chicks when i noticed that was not walking just standing so then i pick it up and i noticed that its eyes were peck at badly. so then i looked at the other chicks and saw that one of the americana chicks was pecking only at the buff orpingtons eyes and the delawares eyes. i then seperated the mean chick in its own box. any thing i could do for this chick? i checked all of the others and they are fine. i am gonna go the the feed store and return the mean chick

Some tlc may straighten the meanie out? I've seen a post in here where there was one meanie in the bunch. The person separated it out for a few days. After being alone, it was much better when placed back with the others.....
