, and shoulder rubs for the sore muscles. I do not envy you... it was hard enough keeping the rabbits, ducks and chickens in fresh water, but to have goats and horses and what-all else you have?
Makes me tired just thinking about it.
We had -20 to -30 (even -35F) for about 15 days straight, and I was taking water out to the animals at least 4 times a day. Gallon jugs, mostly, but in the breeder coop I have the soda bottle waterers. I just have twice as many as I need, so while one set is thawing in the sink, the others are quickly freezing up as fast as the birds can gulp. My husband remembered his old military snowsuit... camo, of course!
... so I just step into it and zip up. Good to -35F with my birthday suit on!
Then boots, balaclava, and thick gloves... grab the 5 gallon bucket with the water bottles in it and away we go. Every hour on the hour, to check for water, eggs, and frostbite. Only lost 2 eggs to freezing. But I sure was ready for the break we finally got this last week... +30-40F! Now I'm fighting Cocci, because all the pens are standing water on ice...
Hang in there... spring will be here soon.
