If the dogs growled at you and didn't greet you with excitement with the "toy's" they found, those dogs are BIG trouble, and in some areas... will be in DEEP trouble. Report them for sure. I don't think ANY dog should be growling at humans. Especially off their home turf.

I went through this about a week ago. I called the sherriff.....you know what he told me!?? " If they are killing your chickens, get a gun, and put it to it" I told him I didnt think I could shoot the dog, but MIGHT be able to trap it in a large pen. He said.. " If you trap it, call us, we will come shoot it" I did get a gun...but the dog has not been back. This is not the black lab that previously killed here. This one was LARGE, probably 150 pounds, Looked like a wolf mix. Big, brown/grey, and shaggy. Im just glad it hasnt come back! Im so very sorry for your loss. Its soo tragic to lose ANY. PLEASE, call the police, and get a report made....for YOUR protection! These dogs WILL be back.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I think I'd be buying myself a nice gun. If they came on your property again, they'd be dead dogs and then buried in the back acreage. It's irresponsible to let that sort of dog run loose.

I'm so sorry you lost your precious one. I hope the other one makes it. I lost my fav Silky to something and I have no idea to what.

I'm so sorry about your loss. I have to agree with everyone here. This attack must be reported and the report must include that the dog was acting agressively towards you husband. He knows your chickens are there and he will be back. Please be sure that you and your family are careful.

When and if the owners come around looking , just say Nope havent seen them ...guess they will either learn to keep their dogs put up or that is what will happen again if another comes around...I live in the country and I mean country so get alot of strays and sometimes its all you can do. I have 2 young Grandsons that live here and I dont take any chances...even their mom has learned to use the gun...and kill snakes with a shovel or hoe...Good Luck

Sorry for your loss.

I've only had 1 dog come onto our property and growl at me and not back down.

He never left my yard, he's still here and always will be.
